The funniest thing happened on Saturday night. I wore a brown, suede, floppy hat with my 70’s inspired look, out and felt super glam! I received so many compliments from men on my hat. I must say how happy I am at the fashion forwardness of today’s man.
I bought the floppy hat at a boutique in The Village (NYC) years ago as a freshman at Rutgers. My homegirl KP persisted that I buy it and I did. Saturday was my first time wearing it out since the purchase.
Since the 70’s are definitely back (as if they ever left) this season, channel your inner fabulosity and put one in your wardrobe. Need a little style inspiration? Check out your fave celebs below, out and about in their floppy hats. Also, make sure to check back for my style post with my hat.
Jada Pinkett Smith
Convinced? Get this floppy hat from ASOS!
Louis Vuitton’s Fall 2011 fashion show was a beautiful, dark, twisted fantasy sans Kanye. With a color palette full of deep navy blues, blacks, forest greens and eggplant purples the edge seen in fall 2009 collections definitely made a comeback.
Don’t sale your Louis V ’10 fall collection yet…the lady is still a current trend. In the collection, the marriage of equestrian and military looks give birth to a new wave of what I’d like to call Fasculinity (Masculinity x Femininity).
Monogram Military hats, thigh highs and full length skirts and dresses were prominent. Design sat shotgun while color took a backseat in one of my favorite Louis Vuitton collections to date!
* I died at the trouser at the 1:20 mark…just fell flat on the ground, girl.
Usher’s denim on denim look:
She just might be the flyest and most mysterious black socialite in New York…and in the world. Genevieve Jones, the girl that keeps everyone talking. The media wants to know how a girl from Louisiana inherited such wealth and acceptance into the fashion industry. I personally want to know how it feels to be adorned in the most beautiful designers: Azzedine Alaia, Proenza Schouler, Rodarte and Pucci just to name a few.
We love Genevieve Jones because she has what most celebrities don’t have: true personal fashion sense and effortless style. You can just tell. Everything doesn’t have to be perfect and we believe it. Wurrrrk Genny!

Hmmmm. Looks like someone has been channeling their inner McQueen. Katrantzou’s collection reminds me so much of Mcqueen’s last collection. She features wearable, abstract art that included interiors like windows and dining room tables that she snagged from Architectural Digest and World of Interiors. Katrantzou also carried Spring’s hottest trend, patterns throughout every design.
Nicholas Kirkwood, one of fashion’s most in-demand shoe designers over the past two years has teamed up with famed modern artist Keith Haring for a bold and beautiful shoe collection. Staying within Haring’s signature use of primary colors and using Kirkwood’s known architectural design, the shoes will definitely be the hottest of the season.
This month, Kirkwood will launch an eight day website where this collection along with his other collaborations (Rodarte, Peter Pilotto & Erdem) will be sold.
Those interested in the Kirkwood/Haring collection can purchase the shoes above in a pre-sale…since they aren’t set to hit stores until February 2011.
I know you just spilled your morning coffee on yourself. What in the French designer world are these you ask? My fave shoe from Yves Saint Laurent’s Fall 2010 Collection (which looks amazing in royal blue).
The suede ‘Palais’ platform pump has genuine goat fur fanned around 5 1/2 inch heel. This high heel is for my true glamazons…no stragglers allowed! The platform is 1 1/2 inches long so it’s okay if you want to pretend you’re Jessica Stam for a day when you’re height jumps from 5″6 to 5″11.
You have your credit card out and you’re ready to purchase them online, right? I love your willingness to buy, they aren’t available unless you’re VIP…but you can’t order them from the pre-sale at Nordstrom.com.
My psychic fashion forecasts predict that we’ll see Kelly Cutrone, Genevieve Jones, SJP or Tracy Ellis Ross in these.
I don’t know why but I feel like I’ll be getting an e-mail from PETA in 5…4…3..2…1.
Aren’t these adorable and chic?
Japanese designer Ato will release these sneakers and all their glory via Japanese site Rowgage. The black cowhide (shout-out to PETA) sneakers adorned with metal studs are the best sneakers that I’ve seen since the Christian Louboutin “Louis”.
These make me sick…in a good way.
I’m drooling all over this bag this morning. MCM is taking it back to the 80’s with this one. I think that this should be a summer essential. They’re available at Bloomy’s.
What color should I get?
