Wear it 5 Different Ways- The Boyfriend Tee

We are mothers, graduate students and entrepreneurs. We need pieces that we can wear more than once, no?

I’m so busy running my business and being a Mom that shopping for a last minute piece is out of the question for me most times. I have learned the art of wearing one piece many different ways – AKA “remixing”.

I purchased a cool Keith Haring looking Men’s shirt that I affectionally call ‘The Boyfriend Shirt’, from Urban Outfitters for $9.99!

How I Rocked It

Look #1- Shopping With the Girls

I wore a cool tutu and Levi’s jean jacket to make the boyfriend tee fun!

Look #2 – PTA Meeting

This is a cool Rockmom look! Studded loafers, a fatigue gun hat, leggings and a blazer. You’re ready for an afternoon with your kiddo.

Look #3 – Farmers Market Chic

It’s Saturday morning. You rush out of the house with a hat over your bedhead, no makeup, and denim overalls. You throw on your favorite pair of heels so you won’t feel super short when you stop by the deli.

Look #4 – Date Night!

Art Gallery viewing followed by dinner with the beau. He’ll be impressed with your artsy tee – tucked in your tulip skirt of course.

Look #5

I would wear this on set. I love being comfortably chic while I’m working. Leather skinnies, my fiancé’s J. Crew flannel and a pair of sexy heels do the trick.

Now it’s time for your to snag your very own boyfriend tee. Email how your wore yours to glamourcommander@gmail.com. I would love to see what you’ve come up with!

Crazy, Sexy, Fun Fashions by Paulette Williams

glamour-commander

Paulette William is a veteran. She’s never served in the military but – she has served as a seasoned designer and seamstress in DC for years. She can hem pants in 5 minutes and sew a dress in a few hours! I was excited when she asked me to adorn myself in one of her designs.

This beautiful pink jump suit makes me think of a modern geisha – the bow in the back is adorable! Although this look is more runway than real way, I can assure you that her deisgns are versatile. From birthday dinner to wedding gown, she’s your go-to gal. For design inquiries, give her a ring at (202) 308-4297 or follow her on Instagram @mzpaulette.

Writing My First Book

20140410-175745.jpg

I get crucified for being too adventurous and daring with my career and other life pursuits, so when the idea of writing a book came up, I only shared with a few people. Let’s be honest, everyone is a “writer”nowadays. There were 391,000 self-published titles released in 2012 alone!

My inspiration for publishing a book came from many conversations with a friend, Margaret. We would talk about relationships, sex, friendships and casual dating on our daily walk from work (we were teachers then!). These talks which she often calls “Chela Wisdom”, would feed us insight that made us more grounded and inspired. We learned so much about ourselves and each other simply by talking or listening.

Looking back, I’m pretty sure that our lives crossed for those moments. I miss those moments. Two women exploring all the rights and wrongs in their lives and helping each other reach awesome conclusions – a beautiful thing if I do say so myself.
We realized that career, friendship, appearance, spirituality and romantic relationships all struck a common chord within us – happiness. We desired happiness. I discovered that women just want happiness but don’t know how to get it. My book is for that woman. I will be raw and honest about how each of us can get the life that we want.

I need your help! Please share any life changing experiences, or pressing issues that you would like to work on. Maybe you don’t have a lot of confidence in the work place or can’t figure out why it is so hard for you to find a life partner- if this is you, share your story with me by emailing glamourcommander@gmail.com. Post on all of your social media and share with your friends. I want to ensure that I am covering every obstacle and issue that we face as women.

I’ll keep you all posted on my progress with this exciting project.

Mad About Mules

mules-spring-2014
Spring 2014’s biggest shoe trend is the mule. Recently, in Porter Magazine, shoe connoisseur Manolo Blahnik shared how sexy he thinks mules are. How about you? What I like most is that there are so many styles and colors of mules to choose from. You can go fun and spunky with Sophia Webster or simple and minimalistic with Alexander Wang.

No up for buying designer brands? Check your local Nordstrom’s or Zara for affordable interpretation of runway designs. Check out the array of mules below too!
